Gardener's Lodge project receives well deserved funding

We’re really excited that the Holburne Museum has received funding to support their Pathways to Wellbeing project for the next 3 years.

The Gardener’s Lodge Art Group (under various names) have been part of FaB for 11 years now, exhibiting their artwork during the festival, some years even curating, installing and volunteering. One group member has joined the Fringe Arts Bath committee, contributing regularly to the organisation as a whole over the last 3 years.

The Gardener’s Lodge Art Group fits within the even bigger Pathways to Wellbeing project, which provides long-term support to change lives, running art projects, providing mentoring support and volunteer training for many, many people, and the benefits are huge.

The Holburne Museum and FaB have a great relationship, FaB did an ‘Up Late’ takeover in May this year, and the museum’s Director Chris Stephens judged the 2019 Bath Open Arts Prize, lovey to see we got a mention in the news item on their website, thanks team! Below is an extract, visit www.holburne.org/funding-for-pathways-to-wellbeing to read the full news item.

Pathways to Wellbeing is an innovative project bringing museums, art galleries and mental health and support organisations together to work in partnership across the city of Bath. Its continuing success has established the Holburne as a leader in the growing area of museums, creativity and wellbeing.

Four different regular Pathways groups meet at the Holburne and partner museums, offering people the chance to try art for the first time and explore their creativity in supported, safe and inspiring spaces. The programme offers long-term support to individuals and recognises that life-transforming change happens over time as trust and confidence are built.

People who may never have stepped inside a museum before have opportunities to learn about their local heritage, exhibit art work in museum settings and get involved in the wider arts community. Programme highlights have been Pathways groups’ ambitious annual installations for Fringe Arts Bath Festival and the Tree of Life mosaic currently on display in Bath Abbey. The Holburne also hosts regular free Creativity and Wellbeing coffee mornings, encouraging people who might not usually visit to find out about the positive health and wellbeing benefits of engaging with museums and the arts. Chris Stephens, the Holburne’s Director said “Pathways is at the forefront of what we are as an organisation and I am very pleased that through the generosity of the National Lottery Community Fund and St Johns Foundation we can carry on working in partnership with our friends at Bath Preservation Trust, the American Museum & Gardens and, now, The Edge at the University of Bath.”
