Kiara Corales: ‘The navigation of my experiences of dislocation, longing for the motherland, and decolonial thinking, manifests itself in experimental video and installation. Infused with awareness of existing as a racialised and gendered individual, my pieces aim to engage and challenge the authority of Western thought; hegemony and orthodoxy particularly in the white cube; and provoke candid conversations about race which goes beyond the oppositional binaries of black and white. I create spaces for the subaltern voice to speak and be heard.’
