The Bath Open Art Prize winners for 2022

The winners in the Bath Open Art Prize 2022 have been announced:

Sarah-May Rogers, Woodland Walk I, III, and VIII (porcelain)

Sarah-May Rogers wins 1st Prize with her sculptures 'Woodland Walk I, III, and VIII'

We are over the moon to see Sarah-May’s work be selected for the 1st Prize. Judges Gracie Dival and Roger Clarke said "Ethereal... you want to touch them but know you shouldn't... sparked fantastic conversations. Absolutely loved them... beautiful... what more can I say?!"

As well as the title of winner, Sarah-May will receive a £500 cash prize kindly donated by The Arts Society Bath Evening and The Arts Society Community Grants. Huge thanks to them both for this kind donation.

Daniel Freaker, Back to the Moon (acrylic and spray paint)

Daniel Freaker has won the 2nd Prize with his painting 'Back to the Moon'

We are so excited to have Daniel's work in the show, as judges Gracie Dival and Roger Clarke said; "it's absolutely luminous... we were drawn in... it really inspired us to think about it and chat... What an exciting thing for a piece of artwork to do..."

As well as the title of winner, Daniel will receive a £200 cash prize kindly donated by The Bell Inn, a local community-owned pub. Thank you to the Bell community for your support.

Ellie Thompson, The Good Times are Killing Me (felt, wire, wood) (Ellie right, Hala to the left)

Ellie Thompson has been selected for the 44AD Solo Exhibition Opportunity with her sculpture 'The Good Times are Killing Me'

Ellie was delighted to have been selected by Katie O'Brien, Project Director of 44AD artspace, and even met last year's recipient Hala Alaouié who was also in attendance at last night's PV.

Ellie will be given a short residency at 44AD this winter, followed by a solo exhibition in the space in January 2023. We can't wait to see the work she creates and will tell you all about it. You can see work by all 66 Artists selected for this year’s Bath Open Art Prize exhibition at 44AD until 30th October 2022 44AD artspace, Abbey Street, Bath BA1 1NN, open 11am to 5pm daily (11am to 2pm 30th Oct).

Visit the exhibition to vote for The People’s Choice provided by Minerva Art Supplies! The Winner will be announced on 31st October.
