Announcing the winners: Bath Open Art Prize 2023

We’re excited to announce the winners of the Bath Open Art Prize 2023.

Katya Granova wins 1st Prize for her painting 'French Coastline'.

We are over the moon that 2023 judges Jon Bennington and Andrea V Wright selected Katya's work as their overall winner, seen here receiving her award from Heather Leach of The Arts Society who sponsored this prize. Huge congratulations go to Katya.

As well as the title of winner, Katya will receive a £500 cash prize kindly donated by The Arts Society Wessex Area and The Arts Society Community Grants. Huge thanks to them both for this kind donation.

Clare Thatcher wins the 2nd Prize with her painting 'Marooned I’

We are so excited to have Clare’s work in the show, judges Jon Bennington and Andrea V Wright chose this coastal landscape as recipient of the second prize this year.

As well as the title of winner, Clare will receive a £250 cash prize kindly donated by The Bell Inn, a local community-owned pub. Thank you to the Bell community for your support.

Susan McCraith wins the first-ever BOAP Emerging Artist Award with her work ‘Blue Glass Bottle’.

Susan‘s work was selected by Craig Jenkins of TSL Consulting and she has received £250 prize money. Congratulations Susan!

We are really grateful to Craig for developing this new Emerging Artist Award, and the opportunity it offers. The award is open to early-stage Artists of any age, who are in the first 10 years of their practice. They may be a student, a graduate or self-led in their learning and whether practicing full or part-time are committed to developing their practice.

Theo Dunford has been selected for the 44AD Solo Exhibition Opportunity with his two paintings ‘Pools of Light’ and 'Untitled Space’.

Theo was delighted to have been selected by Katie O'Brien, Project Director of 44AD artspace.

Theo will be given a short residency at 44AD this winter, followed by a solo exhibition in the space in January 2023. We can't wait to see the work he creates and will tell you all about it. Thank you Katie for continuing to offer this amazing opportunity and supporting Artists in this way.
